A National Wedding Guide Rooted in Love, Equality, and Celebration

Pride Town Connect’s Wedding Venues collection connects LGBTQIA+ couples, families, friends, allies, wedding parties, and guests with welcoming venues and professionals across America. The page brings together major wedding categories, marriage-equality history, five metropolitan guides, and future city architecture in one national resource.

A Milestone in LGBTQIA+ History

Marriage Equality Changed What Was Possible for Millions of Couples

On June 26, 2015, the United States Supreme Court’s decision in Obergefell v. Hodges recognized that same-sex couples have the same fundamental right to civil marriage as other couples. The ruling required states to license marriages between two people of the same sex and to recognize lawful same-sex marriages performed elsewhere.

For the LGBTQIA+ community, marriage equality represented far more than access to a ceremony. It affirmed the dignity of relationships, families, commitments, and shared lives that had long existed without equal recognition under the law. The decision became one of the defining civil-rights victories of modern LGBTQIA+ history.

That milestone was built through decades of advocacy, court challenges, public education, personal courage, community organizing, and couples willing to tell their stories. It reflected generations of people who fought for the right to love openly, build families, share responsibilities, and have their commitments treated equally.

Today, LGBTQIA+ weddings take place in ballrooms, gardens, barns, beaches, hotels, museums, restaurants, historic estates, rooftops, community spaces, houses of worship, and destinations across America. Each celebration is personal, but every ceremony also exists within a larger history of visibility, perseverance, and progress.
